Along the Lake

This weekend I had the privilege to spend time with my brother, niece, and nephew.  On the afternoon that we got to their house, we went to a beach along Lake Michigan.  My 10 year old nephew and I both did some photographing.  It was a wonderful day!  We were able to take our sandals off and put our feet in the water.  It was certainly a true sign and our summer days are not far away.  I had a really hard time deciding which photos to share, so there are quite a few.  My favorite are the ones of the butterfly. I  just happened to see it as we were getting ready to leave and I thoroughly delighted in it's movement and brilliant color.  I am excited summer is so close.  The camera will be coming out a lot more now!

Dunk!!

We have been so fortunate to have family here for the last few days.  Most of the family consists of nephews.  Suffice it to say, I have one niece.  I spend a lot of family time with boys.  One thing that does make life interesting is photographing them playing.  When a game of basketball started up in our driveway, I knew I needed to capitalize on it.  After playing for a while, one of my nephews put on a dunking display.  It was fun to watch, and I have some pretty cool shots from it as well. 

I always wanted a girl.  I really did.  I think I would still like it if I had one.  But, even through all that longing, I can't imagine life without these wonderful boys!

Senior Year

I think that it is fun to do senior sessions.  Not only because of the kids, most of the time they are ambivalent about the whole thing, but the parents.  As a parent (and photographer) I understand how precious those moments are.  Granted I do not have a senior in high school yet, but I do know that each little milestone that my children reach are memories I want to preserve.  I can't imagine what it will be like to have one graduate from high school.  *shiver*

Here is a photo session I did recently with a young man who is almost ready to graduate.  I really enjoy doing these kinds of shots.  If you know of anyone who is looking to have Senior photos done, please let them know I would LOVE to do them!

Little bundle of pure joy!

This last Friday, I had the extreme honor to photograph my cousin's new little girl.  Even though she looks a lot like her daddy, she has her mommy's lips.  I loved that she knew her mommy's voice and would turn her little head to try and see her.  I was reminded how beautiful and heart-warming it is to welcome a new life into such a loving family.  This little girl is going to be loved and adored by so many, and rightfully so!  The following are  a few of the images that I captured when I was at their house.

Life...

There are those times when I need to look around and be reminded of all of the life that is teeming around me.  Today is one of those days.  I tried to take some time and stop and smell the flowers so to speak.  Springtime is a great time to find new life everywhere.  The maple trees have their little "helicopters" that spin and just the right force to land head down with it's seed in the soil.  There are lilac's on the bushes in their beautiful coats of purple.  All of the evergreen trees have bright green tips that makes them look so fresh and new.  Spring is our reminder that after the cold desolate winter, something beautiful is waiting for us.  It brings us hope and beauty.  (O.K.  and allergies) :-)

Today make sure you remember to look around and see all the new life that is right before your eyes.  Remember, life is not about how many breaths you take, but the number of things that take your breath away.  (One of my favorite sayings.)  Enjoy!

First Communion

Just recently, I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful girl for her first communion.  It is always such an honor to be asked to help preserve these special times in peoples lives.  I hope that you enjoy them.
